Next week Thursday is the Central Wisconsin Social Media Conference. The conference will be attended by many small and mid-sized manufacturing firms. As an early adopter of business-to-business (B2B) blogging, I’m looking forward to jump starting some small business bloggers.
Closer than you think.
Wausau, WI is closer than you think (depending where you live). you can be there in about three hours from Milwaukee or Minneapolis. Green Bay and Madison are even closer.
Great event at a great price. This is an all day event with breakout sessions most of the day. Each breakout time slot has four options to pick from so you can tailor the conference to your unique needs. All this and a lineup of great regional presenters for about $100.
If you don’t believe me that it’s a good deal – read what Erika Napoletano thinks about investing in yourself by attending conferences.
“We go to Target and walk out with $100 worth of crap we didn’t need (but it was ON SALE), and you complain about a $30 (or $300, for that matter) investment in your business? Shut…the front door.”
You can read the rest of Erika’s post The Bitch Slap: You Whiny Little “Freelancer” by clicking here. I will warn you that Erika is strongly opinionated like her language.
I hope to see you at the Central Wisconsin Social Media Conference!
If you can’t make this event please keep an eye on my Public Speaking page for future opportunities to see me speak and meet me face to face. You can also contact me with opportunities to speak at your event.

Jim you are so right. So many people I talk to don’t see attending conferences as a way of not only broadening your skill set and your network, but as a means of investing in yourself and your business.

I think part of the problem is when we promote conferences it seems self serving. But this is truly a case where I practice what I preach. Couple quick examples.
1. Just had a Twitter conversation with Joe Sorge who got to meet one of my mentors (by reading his work) Jeffery Gitomer today. I shared with Joe that this blog would not exist if I had not read Gitomer’s Little Red Book of Selling. A book I paid money for, my money.
2. Right after Central Wisconsin, I’m headed to BlogWorld…totally on my dime.
Life long learning and personal development is the real key to success.

Would love to attend but speaking at Milwaukee JobCamp 4 that day. Have a blast! You’ll rock the event!

Why yes. Yes, I am opinionated 🙂 Thanks for the shout out, Jim!

…and you use naughty words liberally (but appropriately) 😉
You’re most welcome – your post I quoted really resonated with me. So many people whine and complain about the success of others but can’t get past investing time and money in their own success….imagine converting just 10% of the whine time into personal development time (and maybe 10% of the Starbucks and drinking money). So, if it takes naughty words to get some off dead center (myself included) please keep doing what you do!

I wish I had heard about this sooner. I am going to try and make it from our meetings in Sturgeon Bay…

Hope to see you there my friend! I’m working on two all new presentations
