Do you have a pair of new or gently used shoes you can spare? Do you need a T-Shirt? Got a few extra smiles to spread around? Then, this is the blog post for you!
Soles For Jesus. My friend Ryan is helping to collect 10,000 pairs of shoes for needy people in Africa. If you’re like me, there are at least a couple of gently used pairs of shoes in the back of your closet. I’ll be gathering mine up and delivering them to Ryan’s Footprints shoe store in Deleafield, WI. He’s also extending a 25% discount off a new pair of shoes should you choose to take advantage of the offer. He’ll collect your shoes either way.
The Give Shirt. I recently purchased a Give shirt after the Great Milwaukee Race sponsored by Fit Milwuakee. Thomas Buddee, Ph.d is the founder of the give shirt movement and it was wonderful to hear his story. He visited Thailand a few years ago and was so impressed with how giving the people are. This is in spite of being a very poor country. Thomas returned to Milwaukee and eventually began the give shirt movement which raises awareness of giving. All profits are donated to charity. The shirts are cool as well, I have been asked about mine everywhere I wear it.
Mitzvah – I’m a Jew (I know strange to be promoting soles for Jesus) and my belief in the power of the Mitzvah grows each day. Simply put, a Mitzvah is an act of kindness done for no reason other than it’s the right thing to do. It’s important to note that telling even one person what you did makes the act NOT a Mitzvah. It’s between you and God that it was done. So, reach out to one person a day you know needs you. We all come across one person each day who needs to know they are loved and cared about and not alone. Often it’s as simple as a smile or a one line email or text message. Try it, you might like it.
I have a pretty cool post planned for tomorrow explaining what I see as the future direction of this blog for a long time to come. I hope you’ll stop back and read all about it.

I know you do. You have an enormous heart you sometimes try to hide with all your snarkery ๐

…and you like Ms. Booth do it all the time. ๐

Let it be known that forcing others to do good is not a Mitzvah.

OK, I re-read the post and can't find where I said it is? Just trying to grasp the context of the comment.
