Late last night I worked out details that will allow me to attend the #unGeekedElite conference in Milwaukee next week. I’m focusing this post on the local luminaries who have provided significant support to me over the last six months.
The list has to start with @ThatWoman_Soho, without whom this conference would have never happened. Last night on Twitter she thanked me, for acknowledging the risk she has taken in organizing the event. While I’m in the process of thanking her she’s busy telling me the conference is all about me. We’ve never met but have often discussed a very important topic on Twitter (coffee) so I know she’s good people.
Attending #unGeekedElite is not about me (at least not from my perspective). This is all about showing up to support the Milwaukee social media community, from whom I have learned so much in the last six months. I scanned through the agenda and found these locals who I know personally and can’t wait to cheer on (in a dignified conference kind of way – OK, there may be a few hoots and hollers for them).
@AJBombers – if you read this blog you already know how I feel about Joe, if not search the archives.
@SusanKim4 – Even if she had not stood behind her Flip Video camera and filmed me yesterday I’d have included her in this list. She’s broken down the barrier that always had me wondering how “real” TV news people are. She’s just Susan and that’s how she likes to be treated.
@SaraSantiago – We talk about being “family” on Twitter and Sara means it. Sara has a very no BS style of communication. I love it. If you don’t know where you stand with Sara you don’t have ears to hear or eyes to read. Can’t wait to hear her apply that to a public speaking role.
@PhilGerb – If you somehow have managed to not follow the most positive and upbeat guy I know, just click on his name and follow him now. Always smiling, always happy, always willing and able to help others. Love ya Phil!
There are at least two others involved in the event, I just couldn’t figure out in what capacity (aside from sponsoring one of the evening parties) who you should be following: @EricaConway of C2 Graphics and @StreetzaPizza.
If your plans don’t include #unGeekedElite, there is still time to juggle your schedule and adjust finances to attend just as I did at the (almost) last minute. Hope to see you there Milwaukee!

Thanks much Jim, really appreciate it.
I also took your tone today in acknowledging Cd's huge risk. It certainly does look like it will pay off HUGE for the Mid-West.

Joe, in the words of Erica Conway this is a room full of smarty-pants! It is paying off huge from my perspective in the middle of the crowd.
