Chris Brogan wrote a great post about turning Twitter follow Friday into blog traffic. You’re here aren’t you? So, he got that part right.
I now have more than 140 characters to share with you what is so fantastic about the people I recommend you follow. The other part of my sinister plan is to focus on those with relatively small followings. So, here we go!
The Tweeting Bloggers – As a blogger, I understand part of the unwritten creed is we do everything we can to support other bloggers.
@shalinibahl – I found Shalini through her Mindful Marketers blog. Just a few minutes reading her blog and you will understand what a thoughtful writer she is. On Twitter you will find she’s a personable and engaging conversationalist. (We met by her commenting on my blog which is the other HUGE thing one blogger can do for another and none of us ever seem to have the time to do it enough.)
@DKKipp – Debbie is the inventor of the #TodaysFollowSuggestion hash tag (I’ll get back to that), provider of Winnie the Pooh quotes, fun and engaging conversationalist, blogger, and all around super woman I’m pretty sure.ย #TodaysFollowSuggestion is another alternative to the #FollowFriday madness that now clogs our streams on Fridays.
@NaniPrints – If my aging memory serves me, I met Nani as a #TodaysFollowSuggestion from Debbie. Nani also has a great blog for print production types and in Twitter is engaging, funny and real.
Foursquare Crazed Tweeps – These two guys know way too much about Foursquare but if you are into that kind of thing they can and will be very helpful. Both are funny, engaging, thoughtful and all around nice guys: @Vitanga @PeteRepublic
Milwaukee Media Tweeps – These are the fun real ones who actually engage and talk back. As we all know some media types just use Twitter to self-promote, not the case with this group! – @LisaManna @SusanKim4 @VinceVitrano
If you’re not on the list please don’t think I hate you or forgot you. I get to do this every Friday, because Chris Brogan told me to.
So, do you think this is a good idea Chris had and should I keep it up?
AJ Bombers says
I really like this idea, 140 is nowhere near enough space to talk about who you'd recommend others follow. Although, I do enjoy the challenge of creating that 140 message.
Thanks for continuing this conversation Jim.

Thank you for including me, Jim. It's an honor. And, yes, I think it's a great idea. Random Follow Friday lists just don't make sense to me without some type of explanation as to why. Might have to steal it myself. ๐

Joe, The 140 character challenge is a huge benefit of Twitter – It forces us to tweet precisely and concisely. That's why I prefer Debbie's #TodaysFollowSuggestion (maybe a shorter hash tag would be good) because we focus on one person with a format like this.
#TodaysFollowSuggestion @AJBombers because he's a genuine restaurateur who has a fun blog http://burgerwhisperer.tumblr.com/
Give it a shot and join Debbie and I in spreading this way of featuring one great person to follow each day ๐

The pleasure is all mine. Since you introduced me to #TodaysFollowSuggestion I have been searching for better ways to feature great people I follow.
