Twitter beyond 140 characters – real conversations

April 18, 2010 By Jim Raffel

What happens when twitter conversations move from the virtual world limit of 140 characters to the real world with no limits? In this video blog I share first hand just such a recent experience.

Here are some links to help you reach the people mentioned in the video.

@felska and @jennkorducki who’s company is Pop Social Media. These two young women are making their mark in the world of social media marketing and I plan to watch their progress.

@sawaboof – ready to laugh at common sense made funny? Follow Sarah.

@krittabug – Krista is the Journalist I mentioned who is going to be collaborating with me on some fun and interesting projects for the ColorMetrix blog. I’m looking forward to working with a professional journalist by training and education.

If you haven’t met some of your tweeps in real life, I highly recommend it. Most of the people I interact with on Twitter are even more social in real life.

Also, we met at one of the best bagel places I have ever been to – Gotham Bagels. Cheryl and I had gone to Madison for the Farmer’s Market. The largest producer-only farmers market in the country! Someone behind the table is an owners of the farm.

What have your experiences been when you met Twitter folks in real life? That’s what the comments are for, let us know.

Great idea doing a quick video and including footage/usernames in the post. Easy to get a few folks passing around the link! ๐Ÿ™‚

Farmer's Market is amazing. I've been going for about 10 years. Almost went this past weekend but it was too chilly for my liking. Might see you there sometime! Try the spicy cheese bread from the bakery that is always packed. You will never forget it!

Not only is it a great idea it's the only way to go. Had I gone to Madison by myself and sat in Gotham Bagels there would be no “story.” The story is about the people I was there with so only fair to give the props and links right?

Yes, it was a cold trip we got Hot Chocolate at Starbucks, hit a few of our favorite stands and called it a day. We'll have to connect some Saturday for sure. Perhaps at Gotham Bagels. ๐Ÿ™‚
