What things can you get rid of?
What tasks can you stop doing?
What projects can you let go of?
Which relationships might have run their course?
I was cleaning out my closet the other day and when I got done I realized how much stuff had accumulated over the last several years. It was stuff I just didn’t need anymore. Some of the clothes still fit but are not my style anymore. Other items just don’t fit. I asked myself, why have I hung on to this stuff so long? All this extra stuff cluttering up the closet makes it more difficult to utilize the space each day.
This got me wondering how some spring cleaning might benefit my business activities. Then, I started asking myself the questions I’ve shared above.
Could your office use a good deep cleaning? You know what I mean. Go through all the drawers and and cabinets. How much of the stuff that has accumulated do you really need?
Are there tasks you have been doing each day? Is it only because you have been doing them each day for years? Do you really still need to be doing all those tasks?
Are there projects you have been working on for years that just never seem to take flight as you’d hoped? Perhaps it’s time to let go of projects like that and focus your energy on newer projects that are getting legs and going someplace.
Are there folks in your business and personal life that seem to cause more frustration than positive vibes? Perhaps it’s time to distance yourself a bit from those folks.
That’s what I’m thinking about. How about you?

Spring cleaning (or in my case Passover prepping) is a time of the year I dread and fancy at the same time. It’s a trying time of the year because it is so busy, and I need to balance both professional and personal lives in one, but it is most exciting for the promise it carries with the getting rid of so much, physically and mentally.
Getting rid of physical possessions, that have become stale, or obsolete, or useless, is very liberating. Cleaning up has a cleansing value, and the virtue of clearing our thoughts too.
I enjoyed your suggestions, I always like finding new ways to look at the chore (it can be a chore!) to keep myself energized, and stop procrastinating about the Spring Cleaning! Thanks.

I have a friend who when she and her children moved from one house to another allowed each of them 3 large plastic bins for the move. If it couldn’t fit in your bin it didn’t make the move. At first I thought, how extreme. The more I think about I think “how liberating.” Stuff just weighs our lives down with extra clutter.

I like this spring cleaning approach although I will probably go through my closet also and remove a few items since you made me feel guilty.

The best part is now I get to go shopping. I know strange for a guy to talk like that but I like clothes shopping and I needed room in my closet.

I should do that.

I just keep plugging away at it. One drawer at a time….
