This past week was a busy one. I spent most of the week in New Orleans at the SGIA show as a spokesperson for a new product launch with our partner Mutoh America. As such there was not much time to share this week’s posts, so I thought I’d do a weekly wrap up and share that instead. I’ve also included a couple of interesting links from the last week as well.
The week’s posts
The power of partnering – I’ve spent most of this week at the SGIA trade show in the booth of our business partner Mutoh America. Over the last year or so, we have developed the ColorVerify product line and this is the first show where we have demonstrated the solution live to attendees. My role has been to do two or three presentations a day for the audience that showed up. It wouldn’t have been a success without partners and here’s why…
Twitter and nonprofits – Shelby says – When the story broke about 25 dogs dying of distemper and another 70 being quarantined at WHS, I tweeted it out immediately. Two of my followers, @ACommonDisaster and @LaackeMatt, quickly started exchanging tweets with me about the sad situation. Before I knew it, we had agreed to meet for lunch at AJ Bombers the very next day and pool together some toy donations for the dogs in quarantine…
Twitter and nonprofits – Jim Says – Recently I was asked to participate in a panel discussion about social media for nonprofits by the Grantwriters Roundtable of Greater Milwaukee. As a small business owner I was a little surprised at the request but agreed after speaking with the event organizers. Nonprofits, after all, have the same goals as a small business…
You know it’s working, keep doing it – Five days a week I schedule the social sharing of the posts we write on this blog and some days it can be difficult to find the motivation necessary to do it. However, I know it’s working because the site traffic and subscribers continue to grow at a slow and steady pace. So each day I find the time to go through the routine of sharing the posts on Twitter, FaceBook, LinkedIn and Google+. As mundane as it can become, routine is an effective method for getting repetitive tasks done…
Former Android user’s initial iPhone 4S impressions – About 30 hours ago, UPS delivered an iPhone 4S to my door. It’s my very first iPhone and it replaced one of the hottest Android devices: the htc EVO 4G. I’ve already chronicled my history with smart phones in How I use my htc EVO for social media, so this post will focus on my impressions of moving from an Android to an iPhone 4S…
And a couple interesting links to pass along…
Milwaukee’s Apple fans snatch up iPhone 4S – Stanley A. Miller II of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel captures local thoughts about the new iPhone 4S from social media channels. Yes, yours truly is included but in spite of that it’s a great read.
Tweets to tackle cancer – Lindsay Garric of OnMilwaukee.com sums up an event Shelby Sapusek and I are helping out with to support the local affiliate of the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network. We also love that she referred to our She Said, He Said chat as a “battle of the sexes.”
