At approximately 4:00pm yesterday I walked into AJ Bombers restaurant, sat down in “our booth” (the first booth my wife Cheryl and I ever sat in at Bombers) next to my friend and owner of AJ Bombers, Joe Sorge. Across the table from us sipping his Lakefront brew was Chris Brogan. YES! That Chris Brogan for those of you who live your life in the community and social media world.
Now that you have looked at the picture let’s get the important stuff out of the way first. Yes, I am really that short, and he is kinda tall. Chris is also (his words) a regular guy. So many “famous” people say that, Chris lives it. Over the next hour Chris, Joe, and I (later joined by Twitter friends Katie Felten and Tracy Apps) sat and talked with Chris (while he ate an AJ Bombers Barrie burger that he seemed to enjoy in my opinion).
I will let Joe, Katie and Tracy tell their own stories about the hour (hint: blog posts guys – I want to know what was going through your heads too). For me, the entire hour was one great big ah-ha moment. I thought to myself there is nothing Chris is doing or has done that I can’t do or haven’t done. Across the booth sat my future and I like the way it looks. For that Chris (and the blog post idea – that has turned into a series of post ideas) I am grateful.
I would do one thing differently. In my messenger bag right next to the MacBook Pro I am typing this on was my brand spanking new Kodak Zi8 camera that I have used to film a few vBlog posts and the #FitMKE Marathon Relay Video Mashup. That will be the last time I do not pull the Zi8 out of my bag and ask “Hey [famous person’s name here] mind if I ask you a couple questions for my video blog?”
I have said before that I write for me to capture the moment. If ever there was a blog post that embodied that sentiment this is the one. My life is going where I envisioned it going 20 years ago. I am having the time of my life writing about this journey. Keep reading JimRaffel.com and let’s see where you and I end up.
– Thanks for being a reader!

Jim, love the spilling out of your feelings here, not sure that I can even sum mine up at this point, it’s been quite a 36 hours honestly. Happy to have had you there, quite an experience.

It was great spending some time with you. Thanks for the kind words. The video could’ve been fun. I’m just glad we had a chance to chat for a bit. The rest of my tour of MKE was pretty fast-paced, so that was a nice moment in time.
