63-3 GE Live: In Memory Of

September 12, 2007 By Jim Raffel

I could not even bring myself to write about the day it was yesterday. While I know that is disrespectful to those who lost so much and those who made the ultimate sacrifice I just could not do it. In the days and months that followed 9/11/2001 ColorMetrix almost ceased to exist. As most of us remember “the day” fell right at the end of Print ’01 and all the hopes and dreams of many of us got crushed that day along with the twin towers and the pentagon.

For the “idiots” on Michigan Ave last night protesting the day with conspiracy theory sign…I am so happy you live in a country where you can do so. Go to Iran and try the same protest against you own government….idiots, it’s all I can think to say.

Oh, as for GraphExpo…There is really nothing new here this year, but the show traffic and exhibitor excitement are at all times highs since 2001 in this writers opinion. Of course it is 8:47am and I did not leave The Lodge until 3:00am and no the memories are not even vague.

It’s day four, so I have declared “casual Friday” for the show. Stop by the booth check me out in a Tommy Bahama shirt and my cross trainers. Pants you say? You will have to come to the booth to see if I am wearing any!

Quick update on the photo above…one of my three big brothers (Kim) is in New York visiting his daughter and took this picture of Ground Zero yesterday. I found it was in my email inbox just after I made this post.

[…] that 9/11 was, once that I can remember. I’m a far different person than I was when I wrote In Memory Of three years ago. So, from the ashes of my experiences around 9/11 rises a Phoenix of hope. Hope […]
