It depends greatly on the neutral density curve concept but if many images use some form of GCR to remove the neutral gray from CMY values, then most images will not even have the data that would be the most accurate in the GRACoL 7 approach.

Even Don H. has stated that the accuracy of the method is the highest near the neutral density curve values.  He does not guarantee the highest accuracy elsewhere in the space.  If the images do not have the neutral density CMY data in them, then it implies that the rest of the image can not be of the highest accuracy.

Just a thought.
